Usually, I will receive about 12 invitations but can only make 7 Chinese New Year events each year.
Total cost = ( Hourly rate x Number of hours ) + Applicable extra mileage charge + Applicable supplies
An event located 20 miles from the intersection of I-635 & Central Expressway 75 will be subject to an "Extra Mileage Charge" of $5 per mile.
Minimum booking is two hours. A 1.5-hour booking is counted as 2 hours.
Complete the payment by the end of the event. (5% discount if paid via PayPal, account name Mei****##69@hotmail will be emailed to you.)
The event organizer will receive a gift of his/her name written on a hanging scroll.
2 tables + 2 chairs in a very bright area (for optimal output of quality and quantity)
Why bright area? I need to observe the calligraphy brush-tip's angles and rotations all the time.
No outdoor events between December and mid-February.
No windy, rainy places - not possible to use Chinese calligraphy paper!
Setup takes about 15 minutes. Clean up takes about 20 minutes.
Grace period up to 15 minutes, setup, and clean up will not be charged. Additional time beyond 15 minutes will be prorated on a 30-minute basis.
Example: If the event is booked from 8 PM to 10 PM, and it actually ended at 10:16 PM, it will be counted as 2.5 hours. I should have everything ready to go by 7:50 PM.
The audience will receive free Chinese calligraphy written for either short phrases or first names as the event organizer pays the hourly rate.
Each Chinese character's size should not be larger than 8"x 8".
Joshua will bring a mixture of red paper, fancy paper, and bookmarks, and let the guests select their preferred paper. You don't need to purchase anything.
If a guest requests the name/phrase to be written on a blank scroll, s/he will pay the cost of the scroll (typically $20 to $70). Writing is free.
You need to purchase paper from Amazon or Temu. Please handle the paper carefully and do not create wrinkles or additional folds. Chinese calligraphy paper is extremely soft and fragile!
Since calligraphy written on scrolls has a higher value, the number of your purchased scrolls to be used per hour is limited to two scrolls for this option. If you wish to have most of the calligraphy done on scrolls, please choose "Premium_C2 Executives package."
If bookmarks are provided by Joshua, $200 per hour.
If you purchase your bookmarks, $160 per hour.
Easy to wrinkle and be folded
Red paper represents good luck.
When using a Chinese calligraphy brush and black ink, pure white paper is not used for writing only names. A respectful calligrapher should be concerned with the Asian cultural norms. Pure white paper is NEVER used for new year celebrations.
If the white paper used to write a name is mounted with other color margins or borders, has decorations, or mounted to be a scroll, it will be acceptable.
Many varieties from Temu. They come and go very quickly - as some are discontinued, more new patterns are invented and then disappear.
In Chinese, backing = mounting = to stick another sheet of backing paper under the calligraphy paper to reduce wrinkles and to protect the artwork.
Temu has more varieties than Amazon.
Light and flexible. Can be framed. Rectangle, round, square shapes...
Thicker than cardstock mounted paper
There are minimal unevenness when arrived. After writing, just a little more unevenness appears. Calligraphy and painting on scrolls have higher collection value. Easiest to carry. Simply unroll it and hang - no framing required.
Not recommended - very difficult to write - you will not be satisfied with the artistic quality.
Add a footnote if this applies to your business
You may realize the average writing speeds of a Chinese brush are slower than using a pen:

Ancient masters listed at https://www.9610.com/Index1.htm are the best of history.
https://web.ygsf.com/#/home?VNK=d871360f generates the calligraphy free of charge.
To figure out the estimated number of Chinese characters for each English word or a name, please use http://translate.google.com/ .
The number of Chinese characters I can generate "in good artistic quality" per hour is no less than anyone. It's about 40 characters or 10 pieces per hour.
The audience will receive Chinese calligraphy and/or painting created on scrolls (or paper) and experience the cultural journey.
Respectfully designed for managers, CEO, CFO, VIPs, beauty pageants, ceremonies, etc. Calligraphy written on scrolls, or mounted Chinese calligraphy work, has higher a collection value. You make your decisions to order a mixture of blank scrolls, specialty paper and/or mounted cardstock, etc. from Amazon or Temu. I do not provide paper and scrolls for this option.
